Puff Swatch Stitch Tutorial

I have just uploaded a Youtube Tutorial on how I do my puff stitches and have 3 little swatches that you can join in a make along to try it.

Here are the written instructions as I was unable to use brackets in my Youtube Description.

STITCHES USED IN VIDEO US TERMS (UK TERMS):

Ch – Chain
St/s – Stitch/es
Sp/s – Space/s
Sk – Skip
Sc (dc) – Single crochet (double crochet)

Dc (tr) – Double crochet (treble crochet)

Puff 2 – (Yarn over, insert hook in stitch or space indicated, yarn over and draw up a loop) two times, (5 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through 4 loops, yarn over and pull through last 2 loops.

Puff 3 – (Yarn over, insert hook in stitch or space indicated, yarn over and draw up a loop) three times, (7 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through 6 loops, yarn over and pull through last 2 loops.

Puff V stitch – Make (puff 3, ch 2, puff 3) into indicated stitch or space

< > – repeat instructions in between < and > along.
{ } – stitch count is between { }

SWATCH INFORMATION:

GREEN SWATCH:
Begins at 1:00 minute

This swatch uses a multiple of 2 + 1. Turn at the end of each row.

Chain 21.

Row 1: Ch 1 (doesn’t count as st), sc (dc) in each st along {21 sc (dc)}.

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc (tr) + ch 1), skip 2 sts (work into 3rd), along till you have 2 unworked sts left, make dc (tr) in last st. {2 dc (tr), 9 puff 3, 10 ch-1 sp}.

Row 3: Ch 1 (doesn’t count as st), sc (dc) in each st and ch-sp along, when you make the last 2 sc (dc), work one into ch-sp, and one into ch-2 of beg ch 3 from last row. {21 sc (dc)}.

Row 4-5: Ch 1 (doesn’t count as st), sc (dc) in each st along. {21 sc (dc)}.

Row 6-XXX: Repeat rows 2-5 till desired length.

Last row: Repeat row 3. Cut yarn and weave in ends {21 sc (dc)}.

YELLOW SWATCH:
Begins at 13:29 minutes

There is no multiple for this as it’s a single stitch repeat, turn at the end of each row.

Chain 8 or .

Row 1: Ch 1 (doesn’t count as st here and throughout), sc (dc) in each st along {8 sc (dc)}.

Row 2: Ch 1, puff 2 in each st along {8 puff 2}.

Row 3 – XXX: Repeat Row 2 till desired length. Last row: Ch 1, sc (dc) in each st along {8 sc (dc)}.

PURPLE SWATCH:
Begins at 18:38 minutes

This swatch uses a multiple of 4 + 1. Turn at the end of each row.

Chain 17 or

Row 1: Ch 1 (doesn’t count as st here and throughout), sc (dc) in each st across {17 sc (dc)}.

Row 2: Ch 1, along {5 puff v st}.

Row 3-XXX: Ch 1, sk st, along {5 puff v st}.

Last row: Ch 1, sc (dc) puff, 2 sc (dc) in ch-2 sp, along, sc (dc) in last puff {20 sc (dc)}
